In beersmith, do the CO2 volumes seem rather low for certain styles?

For instance, a 15A Weissbier, i has 2.5-2.9 volumes as style guidline....

so, i'm still wondering about this.

what are people carbing a hefeweizen at? beersmith says 2.7-2.9, other sources say like 4?

Got the new BYO and noticed this link listed. I shoot for the middle of the range unless I have had it before and know what to set the regulator too. My kegerator sits at 40 deg and put it between 8-12psi. Been sitting around 10 lately with good results for most styles.

the "residual fermentation C02" thing is very interesting and something I hadn't heard before. it's basically saying subtrack .8-1 volumes for your calculations....

makes sense that most of the bottled homebrew I've had has been relatively over-carbed.

According to Stan Hieronymous' new book, Brewing With Wheat, here are a few carb levels:

Schnieder Weiss 3.5
Paulaner Hefe-Weissbier 3
Franziskaner Hefeweissbier 3.5

The German-style Weizen (Weissbier) should be 3.6 to 4.48 Co2 volumes.
