Default Efficiency Question

First of all, THANK YOU to all who contribute to these forums. They are an immense help!! I've recently gone to all grain brewing, and was wondering what efficiency is, and how it is calculated. I'm relatively new to brewing, so any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Mash effciency is a ratio of the potential extract of the grain bill to what you actually extract.
