Default Wind Bruised Hops. Brew Worthy or Compost?

Just as my hops were coming into maturity, Hurricane Earl arrived with high/sustained winds.

The result is that most of the cones exposed to the wind are now brown where they were bruised by banging into the structure they climb etc.

I am harvesting and drying my hops now and I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion about discarding or using these cones. They're not a pretty sight, so if I were selling hops these would go to compost. But for home brewing...?

What was Earl thinking? Your hops are certainly wind burnt. If it was me I would harvest those last. You may get enough non-brown flowers to work with. I have picked brown flowers that still have a good amount of Lupulin in there.

We rescued our grain from Earl...but the hops had to ride it out.
Good suggestion on harvest. I may just sort them into "grades".
