Hey All-

So I have used the 'swamp cooler' method before, generally just wrapping a wet towel around a carboy while fermentation is happening. Sometimes I blow a fan on it too. I typically used this method when my apartment got very warm > 70-75 degrees to cool the brew down. With winter approaching, I can control the temperature of my apartment quite a bit more. However, I am wondering, even if I kept my apartment at 65 or so, can a swamp cooler be used to keep the carboy even cooler? Say closer to 60. Been thinking about that with respect to a pseudo-pils kit I got from northern brewer...

The temperature attainable with evaporative cooling is dependent on the wet bulb temperature of the ambient air.

Not sure what the WBT would be inside your apartment in winter.
Hey, knock that shvt off. We're drinkin' here.
