Hello,

I transfered to a secondary glass fermenter and after a week I just noticed some
small white floaters on the surface about 1/4" that look like snow flakes. I am asuming its some sort of airborne mold. The ale smells normal. I plan on straining it out and kegging it. Any advice? I hate to toss it.

Thanks in advance,

Joe

That's some really vague information. Often what you describe is totally normal yeast clumps in the wort. What was the recipe, yeast, and temperature variance?

I'm sure it's fine if it smells good.
Unless you think vinegar smells good (and would be a good beer).

Never toss anything without tasting it.
If it doesn't taste obviously ruined (and I mean really bad), keg it.

From primary to finished product is usually 6 weeks (1-2-3). It will taste green before that.

Rule around here is never toss without asking here.

That is normal in the secondary. It is some of the left over yeast and will eventually drop out. If it smells fine and tastes fine then go with it until it proves you wrong.
I just kegged a winter spiced ale that looked nasty in the secondary but tasted and smelled fine. I think it will come out fine once I carb it up. If not at least I can get a few pints out of it before it goes bad.
