I'm trying to come up with a pumpkin ale recipe and here's what I got so far for a 5 gallon batch. I only want to make a half a batch. Is it safe to just cut everything in half, or do I have to consider other things? What about the yeast? Do I still use a whole package?

7 lb Amber LME
.5 lb Cara-pils/Dextrine
.5 lb Caramel Malt - 60L
1 oz Hallertauer 45 minutes
.5 oz Cascade 2 minutes
.5 tsp cloves
.5 tsp ginger
.5 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
1 cup brown sugar
1 package Wyeast 1056
5lb pumpkin

Spices will be added at the end of the boil. Pumpkin and grains will be steeped prior to boil.

I want to make 2.5 gallons of beer so I'm not drinking pumpkin ale in spring.

Yes, no.
See below.
May as well.

By the way, you really need to do a mash to get much out of the pumpkin (other than starch) and the dextrine malt.
