I'm getting ready to brew an experimental batch using Golden Naked Oats for the first time (recipe below), and I can't visualize how this will taste. The goal was to make it as nutty as possible while keeping the color as light as possible. (See my original idea thread here.)

Style-wise, it seems close to an ESB, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't taste like your average bitter. I plan to brew this next weekend and taste test a few weeks later.

What's your prediction? Tasty? Meh? Disaster?

Recipe

Batch size: 5.5 gallons
Estimated OG: 1.052
Estimated FG: 1.015
IBU: ~23
SRM: 9

Grain

6 lbs. 0 oz. Maris Otter
1 lbs. 8 oz. Vienna
1 lbs. 8 oz. Golden Naked Oats
1 lbs. 0 oz. Victory
0 lbs. 4 oz. Biscuit

Mash

Single infusion at 152F for 60 min

Hops

1.2 oz. E Kent Golding [5.9%] (60 min)
0.6 oz. Willamette (10 min)
0.6 oz. Liberty (0 min)

Yeast

Wyeast 1968 or WLP002

Here is a good description. I heard about them on an episode of Can You Brew It.

That sounds really good to me. I've got some golden oats I haven't used yet and am anxious to try and I really like MO and biscuit. I'm thinking it will be tasty, malty, and smooth. Keep us posted!

What is the typical yield of golden oats?

Simpsons says its extract LDK is 275, which I understand is equivalent to ~71% DBFG yield.

super malty and "bready" - not sure about nutty. Nowhere bitter enough for an ESB especially with that grain bill. Should be good though - as long as you like malty beers.
