The man was a rock icon, and all the little metal heads have Dio to thank for the universal symbol of ROCKING OUT

A very sad day for heavy metal fans everywhere...

Damn, I just watched VH1's 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs last night, Dio gave several interviews/ opinions about other bands. He was also listed at #41 w/ Holy Diver (and mentioned again w/ Sabbath). Reminded that I needed to listen to more Dio... now this . RIP Ronnie James, you had one of the most unique voices!

Had the opportunity to work with him twice.
a genuine nice guy.

I remember telling him that If I ever directed a movie, that I wanted him to sing the theme song. He laughed and said "I'd be happy to."

RIP Ronnie. The Jam band in heaven just got an incredible singer. Just keep your sandwiches away from Mama Cass.
