The high winds last weekend beat up my hops it broke alot of bines. One of my chinook hops had all 4 bines that were pushing 15' broke off about a foot of the ground. Now i wish i did not trim them back a week ago. Trimed a bunch of bines 2' - 4' tall back to the groung lost a bunch of other bines but they had other bines that made it. Hope they recover

Keeping the twine tight will reduce this problem in the future. My first year, I used regular twine and the jerking around in the wind made it stretch. I switched to the double-strand coconut twine and haven't had any more trouble.

On the other hand, my 5th year hops are only 8" (that's inches) tall at this point. The ground is still at 45F and I had frost three days last week.
Remember one unassailable statistic, as explained by the late, great George Carlin: "Just think of how stupid the average person is, and then realize half of them are even stupider!"
