I've primaried my 2.5 gallon batches in 5 gallon carboys, since there's co2 filling the headspace.

I have done this with no problems except that when the batch is done, I wish I had just brewed 5 gallons after all.

You should be fine, but I would get it into a keg or bottles in weeks, not months.

I only do 2.5 gallon brews
I have 3.5 gallon bucket for a primary, it came from weekendbrewer.com in VA

11235 3.5 Gallon food grade bucket plain $ 5.88
I secondary in a 3 gallon glass carboy when the type of beer would benefit.

thanks i been looking for a 3.5 bucket was not able to find one.
