Anyone try using Munich 30-35 Lovibond malt as a base grain?

Im thinking of using this dark Munich malt and a little 2Row Pale Malt for an brew but might be more like a stout if I use Munich 30 as more than half of the grain bill.?

I cant find any recipes for Munich 30 - why is that?

I've never seen Munich that dark. Sounds pretty close to Aromatic, which I've heard doesn't work very well as a basemalt. Who is the maltster?

Gambrinus up in BC.

I guess I should stick to 70:30 Pale to Dark Munich and see how that turns out:

7lb Pale 2row malt
3lb Munich 30 L malt
1.5 oz Pauls Dark Malt 520 L
1oz Willamette 60min
1oz Willamette 30min
1oz Willamette 10min
1oz Willamette dry-hop 7 days

Should work eh?

A Munich 30L especially from a North American producer would strictly be a specialty malt. Real German Munich malt can be used as a base malt. The typical color range is 6-12L depending on designation and maltster.
