Default Root beer barrel?

Could this be useful for regular beer?

i would be concerned that the wood has absorbed allot of the rootbeer flavor and will release it into your brew.

Root beer seems to penetrate everything, including PET plastic, I'm sure that wood would be permanently root beer flavored.
