I found this on another forum I frequent and I've tried it on 3 computers. Can't guarentee it will work for everyone as I don't know much about computer hardware/software or what this actually does. However, it did speed browsing (loading of pictures, etc.) through firefox up on all the computers I've tried; noticably...

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true" (by double clicking)

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. (double click, replace the # with 30)

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.
Let me know if it works for y'all...

I did this a long time ago and it definitely speeds up page rendering.

It will make the internet a little faster, but will make the web page a lot slower for everyone else. Someone better at computers can explain it better, and it will only really be a problem for web sites with very little bandwidth, or a ton of traffic. Some people really don't like it.

Doesn't really change anything for me, but I think that's because of the "accelerators" uses to slow down their satellite DSL.
