Default Quick Cider Fermentation

First time cider maker here, and i have my first problem. My airlock has sadly died, only 48 hours after it has started, is this normal, or do i have a problem? Now i did only a 3 gallon batch and used dry ale yeast to ferment. So my question is, is this normal? Any info would be a great help, i think im gonna leave it in the fermenter for at least a week.

It's possible that it could be done, but yes, leave it in the fermenter at least another week.

48 hours isn't unusual for cider that hasn't been loaded up with sugar. Cider is almost all simple sugars and the yeast can just rip through it. Plus using a dried yeast in 3 gallons, you had a higher cell count to start with.

2 weeks in primary certainly won't hurt your cider. 4 Weeks for secondary is okay (I tend to do more) but then give it at least 6 months for aging in bottles for better results. Cider needs much more time than beer.

well heres the deal, sadly my lid has a small crack, so thats why there is no airlock activity i believe, but it is still fermenting so thats a good sign. Hope it is not contaminated!!!!

I'd leave it be if it's bubbling and go beg steal borrow or buy a hydro.
