I just had a walnut stout at a local brew pub that was awsome. Has anyone ever used walnuts or know when and how to add them?

I'm planning on making a barleywine soon, and it calls for pecans at 15min left in the boil.

Not sure how much it will add to the flavor though....

Can you ask the brewmaster at the pub?
