I'm trying to decide which weldless spigot to get for my SS kettle.

I see the reviews for the: Zymico are quite good here. I have a gift cert to Austin Homebrew and I'm wondering if anyone had experience with their fitting: http://www.austinhomebrew.com/produc...ducts_id=11638

It says - it's for a cooler conversion, would I have any using this on my brew kettle?

Thanks for any opinions....now to man up and go buy a step drill bit.

Cooler conversion and Kettle conversion kits ARE different.

The ones for kettles have a shorter nipple and are usually a little cheaper.

+1 I ordered 3 bulk heads with stainless ball valves for $22 each with $5 shipping for the order. Placed the order on a Friday night at 7pm and received them Monday afternoon.

hey about that step drill. It has been said a million places but Harbor Frieght has what you need cheap. (not a great product for long term use, but for popping holes in a kettle or two they do the job. -- think you need the one that comes in a two pack, not a three pack -- i bought both...)

Whatever you decide to do, you need the keg style fitting as it has a close nipple in the set. The cooler fitting will not be tight enough.

Here is the Harbor Freight item you want:
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=96275

Use a high quality 1/8" metal bit to get a starter hole going. The step bits have a wide face on the tip and will "walk" or wander around the hole even with a center punch starter.

Thanks again for all the recommendations!
