Default unknown fresh hops growing

my grandfather lives in central jersey and has fresh hops growing in his woods but i have no idea what kind they been there forever. Could I use them if i dry them is there anything wrong with that. I'm kinda of a green thumb so i know they are def. hops. Do dif. hop types have different leaves or could you tell the kind of hops from smell or cone shape.

There are a couple distinctive hops, but in most cases identification is tough. There are eight cone shapes, five leaf types, clustering hops, and non-clustering, short side-arms, and long side-arms, etc. The problem arises that a single hop can have different characteristics depending on growing conditions.

At one extreme, female plants can turn into male plants when stressed.

Fresh or dry are useable.

I used mine fresh last september and it produced a good beer, but if you don't use them right away, they should be dried and stored cold.

I'd be willing to brew that Brain Death if someone wants to put up the dryhopping agents.

Papazian's advice on wild hops is simply if they smell good, use them.

seems like good advice to me!
