MMMM..... to add and second to this growing list... I'm a hop freak too. As a care package I'd send (favorites underlined)

DFH: 90 minute and 60 min
Bells: Hopslam and Two Hearted
Southern Tier: Unearthly, Hoppe, Gemini (50/50 of the previous two) if you can find them - although I've noticed my last few lately Geminis had significantly reduced hop aromas than when they first came out
Long Trail: Long Trail Ale
Ithica - Flower Power IPA, Cascazilla
Victory: Hopdevil
Troegs: Nugget Nectar (if you can still get it), Hopback Amber
Legacy: Hoptimus Prime
Blue Point: Hoptical Illusion
Magic Hat: HI.P.A.

I can second alot of the ones already listed... In addition there are some good ones from VA, Dominion Oak Barrel stout and Legend Brown, anything from Southern Tier (the creme brulee stout was great), highland Gaelic, Weeping Radish black lager, Troegs Mad Elf (might be able to find a few left on the shelves somewhere - it was a holiday release)

Imported from the midwest I would suggest anything from Bells and New Holland's Mad Hatter.

There's a bunch of little breweries out this way that make some nice beers. Flying Dog from Frederick, MD, Troeg's from out around Harrisburg, Yards - one of my favorites - from right in Philly, and Philadelphia Brewing, Sly Fox from right outside Philly, Flying Fish from across the river in Cherry Hill and plenty more. New ones seem to open every week.

I would tell him to go out and buy a random assortment, you really can't go wrong.

Where's the love for Ommegang out of Cooperstown, NY? Three Philosophers, Abbey Ale, Hennepin, Witte, Chocolate Indulgance, Rare Vos. These are some seriously good beers! I shared a bottle of 3 Philosophers (Belgian Quadruple Ale with a touch of cherry lambic, 9.8% ABV) with some Hungarian travelers the other day here in NYC. Never disappoints.

I have some Terrapin in the fridge right now. Good Stuff. Allagash white is awesome. Otter Creek makes some fine brews out of Vermont. I love their Kolsch. Smuttynose makes awesome stuff too. I like Climax's Helles.
