Default SPA Heater manifold for HEX ?

Have any of you fellas ever used one of those "Flo Thru Manifold" assemblies used for heating spas? I've seen them with 4KW (@240V, 1000W @120V) and 5.5KW (@240V, 1375W @120V) heating elements installed. It would seem to be the perfect pre-assembled HEX. They can be found on eBay for less than $60 shipped if you look around a bit.

People have suggested the use of the elements before, but I have never seen mention the use of the manifold-- great idea with lots of possibilities!

Reviving a dead thread, I know, but it was the most recent of all the search results.

I'm currently in possession of a 2"x15" 5.5 kw version. I'm waiting on some fittings to see if my plan will work. If it does, it's looking like a $250, all stainless, no welding required, PID RIMS setup for under $250 + pump.
