Just started steeping grains in my milk stout, and realized, I don't know when I'm supposed to add the Lactose?!
I'm guessing during or toward the end of the boil since it's unfermentable?
It's an extract with grains recipe if that matters.

Help!

Thanks!

I've never added lactose, but I do add maltodextrin alot, which is another unfermentable sugar like lactose. I add it towards the end of the boil, enough to be mixed well...I assume you can do the same with lactose.

I would add it during the last 15 minutes of the boil. This way it is sanitized.

This post is identical to what just happened to me. Steeping the grains then...oh crap!
