Default Insulating our mash tun

We have started mashing in our boil kettle with a bazooka screen, but realized we were losing too much temp, so we decided to make a sleeve for it out of water heater insulation.

Our mash tun/boil kettle

In use. We thought it looked like the head of the Stay Puft marshmallow man, so....

The night was a long one

That's awesome. Of course when I first glanced at the subject line I misread it as "Insulting our mash tun," and I expected photos (or possibly video) of you cursing at it.

That last pic should serve a cautionary purpose...don't drink and mash.

O we were insulting the hell out of it before we made the insulation, that's for sure. And the last pic was taken after yeast was pitched, so we did try and keep the brew day itself as sober as possible

Default Def all kinds a win!!

Nice if you ever replace the insulation you should use thinner ,like 1" duct tape and it will look like a base/soft ball hehe
