Default Too long on stir plate or???

I used my stir plate for the first time a feww weeks back, I left the yeast on it for at least 3 days, I cooled decanted and added more starter fluid (wort) as I was using an older jar of yeast I was unsure of its viability. Then I only let it stir for a day and then cooled decanted and pitched. It was starting on the top of the freezer I would guess temps to be 75.

The beer I made tastes fruity to me.

I know my beer's fermentation temps were no higher than 65 and did drop down to 60 after the initial vigorous fermentation.

Can making a starter at higher temps result in the same effects and higher fermenting temps?

It shouldn't at 75 degrees especially if you decanted. What strain did you use?

I use the 1007 quite a bit but always at 57 degrees.

the temp range for the yeast is 55 - 68 F.

This is a direct quote from the Wyeast website

"Cold fermentation will produce lager characteristics including sulfur production. Fermentation at higher temperatures may produce some mild fruitiness."

That could be the reason.
