Some of my grandpas friends used to make this at our big holiday party every year. Its got a hell of a kick and is around 17%abv I think. Correct my math if I am wrong. Serve this warm but not hot as you will evap all the alcohol.
2qts Merlot. It can be table red. I used Carlo Rossi
2qts Hard Cider. I used Apfelwein
24oz Brandy. whatever you can find. I used really cheap stuff
2 whole fresh Nutmegs cracked in half
1 Cinnamon stick
1.5 Cup Raisons
1 Cup Almonds(not salted!!!) I rinsed off a cup of salted that I had.
mix everything together and heat no higher then 130 dF for 1 hour. Serve from the pot or let it set on the spices and fruit and nuts for a while. I waited 2 weeks and it is absolutely fantastic.
I also bottled 3 22oz bottles of this and made sure that I put some of the fruit and nuts in the before I capped it.
