Has anyone tried Trader Joes Vintage Ale? Its described as a Dark Ale on lees, which I've discovered is a fancy way of saying bottle conditioned, no? Would anyone recommend it? How have the previous year's "vintage" aged?

No, but I've had good luck with just about all TJ products. Since I'm headed up there tomorrow, maybe I'll grab a few for the party.

I was going to try one and then buy a few extras for aging if I like it. Its five bucks a pop (big bottle), not a bad price if its good beer...

It's made by Unibrou. Expect it to be similar to Maudite, La Fin du Monde, Trois Pistoles, etc. I picked one up today along with some 3 buck chuck and I'm eager to try it.

Here's the ratebeer write up on this year's vintage:
http://ratebeer.com/beer/trader-joes...e-2009/113888/

It's not nearly as well rated as my favorite Unibrou, Trois Pistoles:

I also picked one up last night while the wife was picking up some wine. Last years was very good for $5. If this one is good, as it should be, i'll be going back to grab a few more to age.

I got the 2006 and 2007 back when I lived near TJs. They were both really good.

Picked up 4 bottles. Wife loves it - I guess I'm just not a fan of belgians no matter how much I try.

I will say though that the beer certainly doesn't present itself as a 9%er

Age it! It is awesome! Had a two year old bottle a few weeks ago. It was excellent.
