5.2 is not available here so Ive been using lactic acid for pH adjustment.
Are there any differences between lactic acid and phosphoric acid that should be considered ?

Phosphoric acid will precipitate calcium out of your brewing water in the form of calcium phosphate. By the time you add back enough calcium, either gypsum or chalk, your SO4 or CO3 may be too unbalanced.
