You can multi-task, right? I mean you can do something else while the grain is steeping, like sanitizing your fermenter and other post boil gear, laying out your hops and stuff....making lunch, folding laundry, or asking questions on HBT

The grains don't need to be stared at while they are steeping.

When I move my brewing to the stovetop in cold winter I often bake a loaf of bread in my machine, cook dinner, load stuff in my slow cooker for lunches during the week, and brew beer at the same time. Just overlapping my steps, when my grains are mashing (or I am steeping) then I do something else.
