Default Sealant for mash tun??

Ive Just about finished up my DIY Cooler to Mash Tun Conversion and Ive ran into an issue... My valve setup is not exactly water tight...its a very slow leak (just 8-10 drops per minute)...I think this is because the Rubber plug that came with the cooler is a bit loose around the Brass Nipple which connects to the valve...Ive tried adding orings and washers and The leak persists...I was wondering if there is a problem with using some kind of sealant to stop the leak? Is there a specific sealant which wont give off tastes, is safe for brewing, and can withstand the heat which the mash tun will undergo?

Thanks in Advance

100% silicone. You can get it where caulk is sold at home depot or lowes. Comes in clear white, or black. About $6 for a tube.
