Default 2526 Kolsch yeast

I see 2526 Kolsch yeast popping up in a lot of non-kolsch recipes. I have read that this is a good yeast to use when you do not want to add a lot of flavor from the yeast and let the malt and hop flavors come through. Does anyone have any experience with this yeast and are these claims true?

I use Kolsch yeast as a happy medium between ale and lager yeasts. Generally when my lager fridge is full, and I want something lager-like, it comes out very clean when fermented around 60

Yeah, it's clean. I use it mostly tho because it really tolerates low temperatures well. I had a stout that fermented with ambient temps 55-60F.
