Hi again,
Just wondering about the effect that strike water volume has on the resultant wort. As an all grain amature, I have read a bunch, and from what little I understand, somewhere between 1.25 and 2 quarts per pound of grain is required. This begs two questions:

Does this mean strictly the weight of the malt, or should I include the weight of the adjuncts. Also,

What effect will varying the amount of strike water have on the character of the beer.

Thanks again

It would include adjuncts also. And yes it is weight of grist. Generally, most noobs to AG use between 1-1.25 qt/ lb, this is much easier to handle and control . The link supplied by MO will help you very much!!

The greater the water/grain ratio the drier the finished beer although this doesnt have such a significant effect as mash temp.
