Default Ambient Light

Can a beer ferment and age in a room with ambient sunlight, not direct and be okay?

Whatever you're fermenting in, cover it with a t-shirt. Then it won't matter.

Is it in a carboy or a bucket? In a bucket, it will be fine, in a carboy you are better off covering it with something (t shirt is a good idea).

Ambient light is OK....it's not visible light that skunks up beer: it's UV light. Direct sunlight has a lot of UV light....suntan lamps have a lot of UV light. As long as you aren't trying to get an indoor tan, I'm guessing you don't have enough UV light in your house to skunk your beer

Like davesrose said, just be careful with those full spectrum lights. We have 3 in our house in various rooms and I have to be mindful about them not shining into the bathroom or closet or wherever I have my primary sitting.
