Default Candi sugar or table sugar?

Is table sugar a good replacement for candi sugar? Is there some kind of conversion if replacing it? My recipe calls for 8 oz clear candi sugar, should I just use 8 oz table sugar. Is beet sugar or some other kind of sugar better than the table sugar?
