- Tasting Notes
- A very simple taste. A nice citrusy hop and orange taste with a good malt background
Ingredients Amount Item Type % or IBU
10 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 95.24%
.5 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 40L (40.0 SRM) Grain 4.76 %
0.70 oz Simcoe [12.3 %] (60 min) Hops 29.7 IBU

1tsp Irish Moss (10 min)
0.50 oz Sweet Orange Peel (5 min)
0.50 oz Cascade [7.2 %] (0 min) Hops -
1 Pkgs SafAle US-05 American Ale
Mash at 154 degrees for 60 min. Single infusion, batch sparge.
Ferment for 14 days between 65 degrees and 70 degrees.
Bottle with 4 oz of corn sugar for 2.4 vols of carbonation
Store bottles at 70 degrees for three weeks. Chill for 8 hours and enjoy
Brewers notes.
I had some issues keeping temps while mashing (I had to use my bottling bucket to mash this beer) so it is a little dryer than anticipated, but still very enjoyable. I may consider, in the future, using some vienna malt to add a little bit of character. The orange peel give the beer a very refreshing citrus aroma, which nicely complements the Cascade hops.
