A good resource to read to learn what to do:

I would try to find a local home brew shop (LHBS) and see what kind of starter kits they have. Where are you located?

Other options are to buy starter kits online. There are a ton of reputable online homebrew shops out there.

A few of them are:

1. None
2. Wildflower Mead
Keg Conditioning:
Belgian Wit
Red Ale
Apple Cider
On Tap:
Alaskan Amber Clone
Church of Chocolate Brown Ale
Apple Cider
On Deck:
Joe's Ancient Orange Cinnamon Clove Mead - Well worth it
Maple Pumpkin Ale - Turned out really well
Peanut Butter Porter

Here are a couple more home brew supply stores:

Look at the threads here and read a good HB book before you start. It will save you a lot of trouble later. I would recommend "The Complete Joy of Home Brewing" by Charlie Papazian. Just substitute StarSan for the bleach when sanitizing and you will be good to go.
Good luck and enjoy Let us know how it is going.

only two things to add:

>find a local homebrew supply near you if possible

>find a local homebrew club near you and attend if possible

you will benefit greatly from these and the learning curve will level off much faster
