I am looking to do a clone of Widmers American Wheat because well I like the taste on a hot summer day.

I have not seen much on the internet and this site of course that is less than 4 years old and a All Grain recipe.

So going with what I have found, this is what I came up with.

Recipe: Widmer Hefe
Brewer: Matt
Asst Brewer:
Style: American Wheat or Rye Beer

I see in the following thread they talk about the hops that are comprised in Widmers blend called Alchemy hops

I choose Nugget and Warrior but if I can find the others, I will go that route.


What do you think? Do you think this is close?

I got the remaining ingredients i need to brew this except i will be using Magnum for bittering since I have some I need to use. I think it should be ok since it is a nice clean bittering hop.

This should be boiling away on Saturday.

Here's the recipe I used. It was real close to the real thing in a side by side blind comparison. I actually bought a six pack and harvested the yeast from the bottles to use and have reused3 twice so far and I'm planning on brewing again this weekend adding some warrior as a bittering to match thier "alchemy" blend. Yours looks alot like this one try it out it has to be good. On my second attempt I just did single stage ferment for 2 weeks then kegged.

Actually just had a hefeweizen tonight that I based on Widmer's

Mine was:

4lb's Wheat
4lb's Pale
.75lb Munich
.50lb Crystal 40


I'm not an expert but it was fairly close, maybe a little heavy on the munich/crystal.


Thanks Weizen, I've allways wondered if you could harvest the yeast from Widmer.

Thank you for the info. I was going to bottle harvest too but I was at the HB shop and they had 320 so I went with that.I will adjust the grain percentages have have less munich and probably throw that 30 minute Cascade addition in too to get more bittering from it and take away from the 60 minute addition.

Anyways, I look forward to tasting how this comes out.
