It's been only recently that I thought about my flask sitting on the stir plate for close to 2 days - the stir plate surface gets kinda warm. Here's a mod I did to remedy that. Plus with the warm weather here, I added a touch to cool things further:
- These are those felt sticky things you put on the bottom of chair legs.
- When added, it keeps the flask from sitting on the stir plate directly, allowing some air to pass. Still close enough so that the stir bar spins with no difficulty.
- And, to cool things further, I added a take-out plastic container and float some ice in there as needed.
This might be an old technique, but thought I'd share just in case...
