Default LD Carlson Fining

I read the posts on Gelatin as a fining agent. In it, people mentioned Knox gelatin and using different amounts. The amount I noticed most often was 1 tsp per gallon. I had bought a small jar of LC Carlson's Gelatin and it says to use 1/2 tsp/5 gal. Does that seem really low to you guys or is there product really concentrated? Would you recommend increasing that?
