Brewed a West Coast IPA that was suppose to be 6 gallons, buddy I introduced into homebrew (his second batch assisting) and I started drinking our last homebrew batch at the beginning, neighbors came over, started drinking more. Became a bit chaotic, too much going on, and ended up mixing up a few of the hop additions, and boiling off too much wort. Went from 6 gallons to 5 gallons. OG was suppose to be 1.069, ended up with 1.081. Used a starter, and was fermenting like crazy when I woke up the next morning. Smells great though.

It's cool introducing new people to homebrewing, but I like my brewspace to be organized and for things to happen on time, and this was anything but.

^^ I hear ya. 2-4 people and it seems all good. More than that can start getting to the point of forgetting stuff. We did a squash ale last year and we usually brew on the back deck but this one we brewed on the front porch because it was raining some.

We started just the two of us. Neighbors across the street came by. Next door neighbors then came by. Lady across the street dog got out. Some guy that lives 4-5 houses down wandered over. 3 cars with other friends came by during the boil. It was a little bit of a mad house and being that the brewing was happening on a 5'x 12' porch rather than a 14' x 20' open deck, well, a lot of beer was drank and some mistakes were made.

Anyway, We did a Hibiscus Lemongrass Saison Sunday in the back. Went smooth. Smells boss.

4oz dried hibiscus and 1oz corriander in a hop bag and 6 stalks of lemongrass smashed just dropped in. All for the last 10 minutes.

I'll be brewing SN's Sierra Madre Pale Ale all grain kit tonight once I'm home from work. Stoked to finally brew this month!

Another centennial cascade pale ale. Using the spent grains to make a sugar head whiskey wash. Piggy backing it is often called.
