Are you using beer line or generic pvc?
I may not be an expert, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express........ 6 months ago.

It's a ball-lock cobra assembly from AHS. I assume it's 3/16" beer line.

I've noticed vinyl tubing usually clears over time as it completely dries out. An acid wash (vinegar, Starsan) is sometimes needed to remove mineral crusting left over from some cleaners.
My airlock passes gas.
