Default Canadian/Belgian yeast starter

I'm going to be making 12 ga of Begian dark strong using the canadian/begian strain that wyeast has out now. I need to make a starter and I was thinking of making a 5 ga starter beer. Does anyone know a style that would fit that application. I dont think I would want the OG any more than about 1.045- 1.050.

Thanks

That's Unibroue's yeast. The brewery's smallest beer is their white/wit (Blanche de Chambly).

I recently made a 5 gallons of Belgian Pale (based loosely off the Brewing Classic Styles recipe) for the sole purpose of brewing a Tripel this month.

You can get by with a Belgian Pale in the 1.050 range - 85-90% Pils, 10-15% CaraMunich is a simple, standard recipe base. You can also add some Munich or Aromatic or try out some Caravienne, I think I used 1lb CaraMunich, half pound CaraVienne / 5 gallons for mine.

Bitter to around 25-30 IBUs and pitch a liter or two of starter.

Thanks, I haven't made one before. I'll give it a try.
