Newer equipment that we are still dialing in - setting efficiency lower. We usually mash all our IIPAs at 147-149, time to get crazy at 154 - can't fit a 2qt/lb mash with 18pounds of grain so 1.75qt/lb will have to do...

Looks good, good luck on the new equipment, let us know how it goes, Im making a run to the not so local brew store this morning to stock up, will be brewing nes monday.

that looks like a really good beer. how much of the 14lbs is marris otter?

MO is 14 pounds - total grain bill is 18 pounds...we love using MO as the base grain in IPAs - need to start buying bulk

Will report back with some numbers / pics later today.

It smells so gooooooood

Pretty uneventful (which is a good thing) - mashed in at 168* with 31.5 quarts, held mash between 153.5-155 for ~70 minutes. Got 5.65 gallons into the boiler. Sparged (once) with 3.5 gallons at 185* - stirred, grains sat between 165-168 for ~15 minutes. Total volume into boiler was 8.4 gallons.

90 minute boil, cooled wort to 70* - collected 5.5 gallons (all those damn hops), pitched yeast...

Preboil Gravity - 1.061
Orig. Gravity - 1.075
Final Gravity - (hoping) 1.010-12
Mash Efficiency - 76.5% (according to beersmith, didnt do the math myself yet)
Brew Efficiency - 67% (no biggie, we lost at least 0.5 gallons in the kettle and I know the crush was a little subpar)

That looks identical to Two Hearted Ale So it will be Delicious.
