I'm looking for a recipe for a coffee porter or stout that someone has tried and found it to be good. I would prefer a extract/specialty grain mix.

I searched the recipes, but there wasn't one out there that was rated...
I'm also considering the kit from Austin Homebrew

Thanks in advance!

Here's one I made a few months ago:

.25lb Munich Malt
.375lb Chocolate Malt
1.5lb Crystal 120L
.125lb Black Barley
6.5lb Amber LME
.5oz Perle (8.2%AA) for 60 min
.5oz Columbus (15.2%AA) 60 min
.5oz Amarillo (8.5%AA) 15 min
.5oz Perle (8.5%AA) 15 min
.5oz Amarillo (8.5%AA) 5 min
4oz unsweetened baker's cocoa 5 min
White Labs WLP051 w/1 liter starter
16 oz strong brewed coffee at bottling

This is quite bitter. The cocoa and coffee add to the bitterness To reduce the bitterness, you could sub the .5oz Columbus for another .5oz Perle for 60 min.
I left it in my primary for 4 weeks total, and then bottled.

OG: 1.053
FG: 1.014
ABV: 5.19%
IBU: 61.8

Reason: More info...

That sounds like a great recipe! How's the mouthfeel on it?

The mouthfeel is just right for me. Feels and tastes like a Porter should. Nice and robust, but not too heavy. I plan on brewing this up again soon. Everyone who tries it loves it. I get the classic "I'd order this in a bar" compliment on this brew more than any other.

I'm brewing the Peace Java Stout from Midwest Supplies tomorrow, I'll let you know how that goes. I think we will be replacing the coffee with some from a small roaster named Farley's... so we'll be naming the beer Barley n' Farley.
