Default Tiny Cracks in Racking Cane

I was looking at my racking cane (used once) and it has a bunch of little cracks in the hard plastic. Should I get a new one, and how do I keep it from happening again?

I've had that happen when I cleaned it using water that was too hot. It can also happen if you run it through the dishwasher, which is not advisable.

Anyway, when this happened to me, I replaced it. It's not worth taking a chance with an infection, IMO.

Stainless racking canes cost about twice what plastic ones do which ends up being much cheaper in the long run.

I am a fan of replacing plastic occasionally anyway. When you amortize the cost over the life of the item what is pennies per beer to keep your equipment safe and fresh.

This is why I have never upgraded to stainless racking cane, even though it is not a bad idea. Another reason is that you can't see if a chunk of some whatnot is adhering to the inside of the tube.
