Anybody ever used the San Francisco Lager yeast (used for Cali Common) for an IPA recipe? I like the clean profile and it seems it would produce a nice clean IPA that highlights the hop profile. Any thoughts?

You could....

It's not ideal though. I find that Cali Lager yeast accentuates malt more than hop. It is clean, with a pinch of fruit esters, that would work well. The hard part with using it for an IPA is that it doesn't attenuate well. I get around 70% with that yeast. Consider mashing very low, and maybe including a little simple sugar in the recipe. It would work

i've got one in the swamp cooler right now
i guess it's technically an IPLager, since i used all pilsener with a touch of munich, wheat, and light brown sugar
