Hey I want to brew today and do an Irish Red Ale - like the old killians used to be. Anybody have a knock out recipe? Would really appreciate it because I am heading to the lhbs with a new brewer who I am trying to hook.

Thanks guys!!

Thanks for the info. I ended up going with this recipe from a midwest kit - since I went to the LHBS about 15 minutes before you posted:

6lbs LME (gold) - I had to substitute 3lbs light and 3lbs amber and went DME to get a little more ABV than the original recipe.
12 oz 40L
2oz roasted barley
2oz special b (had to substitute cara aroma)
10z cascades (60 minutes)
1ozfuggle (2 minutes)
1056 wyeast

Steeped grains 154 for 30 minutes
I ghetto sparged with 170F water
Did late addition on half the extract
Let pot sit 10 minutes at flame out before cooling

O.G. 1.056, should end around 1.010 F.G.
Should end up with 6% ABV

Hope yours, and this one, turns out great!
