I am getting ready to try my first Brew soon... I've been reading up on everything for a few months and think I may be ready and give it a try... my questions are in regards to bottling or using a keg. I have two kegerators with all the CO2 tanks/regulators and everything. Would it be easiers to just put my homebrew beer in a keg and not mess with the bottles? What else would I need to do this? Thanks in advance.

Kegging is much easier than bottles. I probably would have quit long ago, if it wasn't for kegs. Do you have kegs? If not, make certain when you buy them that they match your other equipment (ball vs. pin lock).

As one who started out, and continues to use bottles, I would say KEG!!!! The only reason that I have not gone that route is that I am spending that money on other things right now. I would still put some in bottles, since they are supremely portable, and offer a way to test without disturbing the rest, but I personally cannot wait until I can keg!

im probably biased facing the daunting task of having to bottle a batch tonite, but id say Keg all the way!...sure there are advantages to bottling, (sharing, making pornagraphic labels, etc) but you cannot get more professional like than with a keg, and a keggerater(the impression qoutiont is very high) You should eventually bottle though at least one batch, that way you will really appreciating the art of kegging...

I know I'll need the 5 gallon Cornellius Keg... but is there anything else special I would need to be able to hook it up to system... Wont I need a different fitting or tap to tap the Cornellius keg..?? Thanks for the all the replies and help....

go to thier website...homebrewusa for directions (its real easy)

its in the janif shopping center off of virginia beach blvd. if your coming from pembroke mall its on the right about 3 miles from haynes just after you get into norfolk...i havent been to the other place but these guys talk s**t about it. this place has everything you need...

I like to keg, then draw off about a dozen bottles (kind of like using the keg as a bottling bucket) and put them aside to really mature, or pass to friends. I prefer the keg as it is so much easier, but bottling a dozen isn't too painful.

Jsut to finish up this thread... I went and talked to the people locally and I really dont need anything special.. just a cornellius keg and the two fittings that connect to the keg... easy enough... so I'm going to start keging most of my beer, but always pull out a few to bottle for gifts... Thanks again for everyones help...
