If I run my local water through a carbon filter (like this one that attaches to the kitchen faucet), how will that affect my water chemistry? The water tastes fine, especially after being filtered.

The local water utility puts the total alkalinity at 50.7 ppm with a total hardness of 155.3 ppm so the water is pretty soft.

Thanks, I'm still struggling with the whole water chemistry thing.

JUST a carbon filter in it? Shouldn't dick with the other numbers at all, then. Just chlorine, chloromine, nitrates, and nitrites.

I added a filtrete in-line filter under my sink and only add 5.2 Stabilizer. Said and done. :)
