I am researching all of the ins and outs of all grain before I get into it next year and have been pondering purchasing a conical. My questions are can you dump hot wort into a conical to help sanitize it? If it is possible I was thinking it could be chilled by circulating from the racking port to the port on the bottom passing through an emersion chiller. But then how would you aireate it without opening the fermenter? Is this all a dream?

My only two cents is that pour hot wort can cause hot side aeration. if you believe in the harm HSA can cause, then you can't accomplish your first question.

Also, you need something like 10 minutes of 212F to sanitize/sterilize. the heat lost while putting it in the conical means you wouldn't really sanitize it.

I'd prolly use Star-san in a spray bottle.
