I purchased some liquid yeast for brewing some Porter in May 2009
It has been forgotten about and has been in refridgerator all this time.
IS it still good to use if I never broke the vial????

Yeh I know I shoulda used it but I dry yeasted my last batches.:tank:

During storage, liquid yeast looses viability. You may be able to grow up that vial with a series of starters. Personally I would get a fresh vial and make the appropriate starter for your batch with that.

I definitely wouldn't use it without making a good starter, probably stepping it up if it seems 'sluggish' in the first starter.

yeast is living, so it can survive some amazing stuff.

a lot varies on how it was stored and what the expiration is on the label.
