I have a 10 gallon Rubbermaid Mash Tun and before everyone goes telling me to make my own (I have) I am thinking about buying a false bottom. But I'm wondering about the ones I see with the little copper elbow tube thing in the middle of the false bottom. What is that for??

That's the dip tube. The false bottom goes below the level of the bulkhead drain so you need a way to connect that drain to the area beneath the false bottom to suck out all the liquid.

The liquid travels through the false bottom, then up through a hole in the center of the false bottom; the elbow turns the path so that a tube can connect the path to the spigot opening. Like so (check out my mad cad skilz):

Thanks for the drawing, helps a lot. So you have to have a pump or just siphoning works?
