I'm just getting ready to keg my first beer, and also get a keezer. To that end, I also obtained a Hoff-Stevens keg coupler, because I also want to keep a keg from our local brewpub, and that's what they use. The hoff-stevens coupler came today but the beer line connection is 3/16 in ID. I just sort of assumed that 3/8 inch was the standard, and that my faucet shanks would be 3/8 inch and so forth.

What's preferred? If it's 3/8 inch, can I just get a little doohickey like this...

...to connect the hoff-stevens coupler? If so, would I want a long length of 3/8 inch and a short length of 3/16. or the other way around?
